02 Jan My Embark Marketing Intern Experience – Catherine Tran
I had the opportunity to intern under the esteemed Embark Marketing, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the things I learned and the individuals I met along the way. When I walked through the door on my first day, I didn’t exactly know what to expect, but I was quickly greeted with friendly faces and a welcoming atmosphere. As my internship progressed, I appreciated how tasks were gradually introduced and explained to me in an easy-to-understand way. This allowed me to adapt and learn along the way.
What did this marketing internship position entail?
Even as an intern, I was able to gain hands-on experience working with real clients! Some of these included Acenar Mexican Restaurant, Smashin Crab, Clutch City Cluckers, Mojo, and others. Under these clients, I was fortunate to explore various aspects of marketing, ranging from graphic design, social media, video marketing, and email marketing to reputation management and others.
Having the chance to dabble on various aspects not only gave me insight into what is required of a social media account manager but also allowed me to hone and develop my technical skills. I learned more about the analytical side of social media, explored new tools within Canva, worked with content calendars, and gained an understanding of the importance of press releases and SEO, among many other valuable skills.
What did I enjoy most during my internship?
Some of the things I personally enjoyed the most were working on graphic designs and testing my ability to arrange various elements in a visually pleasing manner. Attending photoshoots and contributing to the creative process of producing videos was always fulfilling and enjoyable. I also loved editing videos, whether it was creating engaging Instagram reels or refining simple panning shots.
It was especially cool to work within the food and beverage industry, as it’s something everyone can relate to and enjoy!
Parting Words
Regardless of how much or how little knowledge someone starts with, there is definitely something valuable to take away from this internship. I would like to thank Kim for being such a kind-hearted and patient mentor, as well as all of the account managers who answered my many questions with kindness.
I truly enjoyed my experience at Embark Marketing, and I will carry the lessons I learned here into my future career.
